There's a palpable sense of optimism to most everything we do these days, as we get ready to move into the new campus in Binan. It's the small things as much as the big things -- from picking out the furniture to making decisions on the technology that will keep things running -- that we know will impact the way that students learn and the community operates.

The Beacon Academy provides an option for secondary education that is global in scope and quality but aware of its local context. It prepares students for university education wherever they choose to go in the world. Students quickly appreciate the academic challenges that are put before them even as they realize that the methods build on skills of collaboration and cooperation, and ultimately build strength of character and encourage enlightened citizenship.

It's gratifying to see the pieces of a puzzle coming together as if in a stop-motion video. The teacher complement is almost complete, and training has already begun. Furniture and equipment have been specified and ordered. Books have been selected. Some day we'll write this story. For now, we'll continue to work at filling in the puzzle for opening day on August 5.
